At the coffee roastery The Coast Coffee at Lovund, the lively coastal culture and urban coffee culture meet at their best. Here you can enjoy an exquisite cup of coffee in what is the island’s own coffee bar and roastery, with a great atmosphere by the sea.

The Coast Coffee is operated by Oleksii Virych, who was captivated by the Helgeland coast in 2017 and moved here from Ukraine. With him, he brought a passion for genuinely good coffee, which he roasts and serves at what has become a coffee bar and roastery as good as any.

The coffee is made only with “specialty coffee,” meaning beans of the highest quality, which Oleksii loves to discover and refine. The result is coffee of the utmost quality, which you can enjoy in the coffee bar that combines both urban coffee culture and Lovund’s lively, maritime coastal culture. Here, you can sit and enjoy the coffee, the atmosphere, and the beautiful view of the vast ocean outside the windows.

At the coffee bar and on The Coast Coffee’s websites, you can also purchase both coffee and equipment to brew your own coffee. This way, you can take the delicious taste of The Coast Coffee, Lovund, and the Helgeland coast with you, no matter where in the world you go.

From the page about Specialty coffee on Wikipedia:

“Specialty coffee is a term for the highest grade of coffee available, typically relating to the entire supply chain, using single origin or single estate coffee. The term was first used in 1974 by Erna Knutsen in an issue of Tea & Coffee Trade Journal. Knutsen used specialty coffee to describe beans of the best flavor which are produced in special micro-climates.

The widely accepted definition of specialty coffee is coffee scoring 80 points or above on the 100-point scale used on the Specialty Coffee Association Cupping form. Specialty coffee is grown in special and ideal climates, and is distinct in taste due to its complete flavor image in the cup, and due to few or no defects. The unique smells and coffees are a result of special characteristics and the complexity of the soil where the coffee is produced. At the same time, growing specialty coffee is a piece of craftsmanship.

Specialty coffee is high-quality coffee and is only available on a very limited market. In Norway, the specialty coffee industry stands out from the industrial part of the sector. The small independent coffee roasters in Norway generally only purchase specialty coffee by sourcing green coffee beans. These are roasted in the roastery and mostly sold without being blended with other coffee varieties.»

The Coast Coffee is situated on the island of Lovund, about a 5 minute walk from Lovund Hotel, and a 15 minute walk from the ferry-and express boat dock.
