Restaurant Gammelbutikken - authentic local seafood
Restaurant Gammelbutikken is Støtt’s grand locale and exudes authentic coastal culture. Here, you can taste the best that the island and the sea have to offer in terms of local culinary treasures. They follow the entire value chain, from harvesting ingredients in the island’s natural surroundings and catching fish in the Vestfjorden, to serving it in the restaurant.
Located in the beautiful surroundings, nestled along the fairway, is the old trading post of Støtt in the picturesque Støttvær, at the northern tip of the Helgeland coast. If you love great seafood, this is the place for you. The restaurant embodies the authentic coastal culture of Støtt.
For centuries, the traders here have delighted guests with wonderful dishes featuring the best the sea has to offer, served with generosity and hospitality. On Støtt, they continue to uphold this tradition, with respect and consideration for good food and quality ingredients.
Homemade stockfish
Every March, Støtt secures large quantities of fresh skrei and coastal cod directly from the fishermen. They even have their own purchasing permit from the Norwegian Fishermen’s Sales Organization. After deboning the fish, they hang it on drying racks to dry. After two to three months, it is taken down, and the stockfish is ready to be used.
In the restaurant, they prepare a variety of dishes with stockfish as the main ingredient. The signature dish, stockfish soup, is always in demand among guests. In addition to stockfish, you can also enjoy seafood delicacies such as skrei, halibut, salted cod, “boknafisk,” pollock, and whale meat from Skrova. Come and experience a flavorful menu with fresh seafood delicacies that will delight your palate.
As Støtt is an island, the only way to reach it is by boat.
You have a couple of options for your journey. You can take the convenient express boat, which departs multiple times a day from Ørnes, offering a scenic ride to Støtt.
Alternatively, you can choose the express boat Nordlandsekspressen (NEX) that sails daily between Bodø and Sandnessjøen.
