Here you can enjoy your holiday in true Helgeland style, with coastal life, striking scenery, and activities right outside the door. The house is spacious and well equipped, with a high standard throughout, a large outdoor area, and a generous terrace. A sauna is included for extra comfort.


The Seaside House is located in Åkervågen on the north side of Dønna, surrounded by fjord, archipelago, and mountains. From the house you have views towards the open sea and surrounding islands, with the midnight sun in summer and northern lights during the winter months. The setting is quiet and calm, making it easy to relax and unwind.

The house is well suited for large families or groups of friends. It accommodates 10–11 guests and offers everything you need for a comfortable and relaxed holiday. The large terrace and barbecue area make the outdoor space particularly inviting.

Available for rent on site are kayaks, a boat, and a barrel sauna. An indoor sauna in the Seaside House is included in the stay.

Spend your days paddling through calm fjords and your evenings moving between sauna and refreshing sea swims.

The area around the Seaside House offers plenty of opportunities if you want to combine a peaceful coastal stay with outdoor activities. Dønnamannen is one of Helgeland’s signature mountains, offering wide views across the island landscape. The hike is popular with both families and more experienced hikers.

The Seaside House is available all year round. With the midnight sun in summer and northern lights during the winter months, guests are warmly welcome.

The boathouse is located by the small fjord Åkervågen, near Stavseng in the northern part of the island of Dønna, roughly halfway up the Helgeland coast. You can get to Dønna by ferry from Sandnessjøen, or via Søvik to the nearby islands in Herøy, which are connected by bridges. The boathouse is about a 25-minute drive from the ferry terminal on Dønna.

  • Strive to leave no trace of your visit. Bring back all your rubbish, including used toilet paper, and discard it in the nearest rubbish bin.
  • Plan your toilet visits and use the opportunity when you pass a toilet. In the wilderness, make sure you are not a nuisance to others.
  • Respect the local wildlife. Keep a good distance from wildlife, livestock and birds. Keep your dog leashed.
  • Respect private property. Keep a respectful distance from houses and cabins.
  • Show good boating sense. Keep a good distance from shore and drive at a low speed, especially when you are close to anyone or anything on the water, including birds or animals. Avoid loud and disturbing engine noise. Be aware that some islands and nature reserves are important nesting sites, and that going ashore is prohibited during the nesting season.
  • Follow the Norwegian Mountain Code (Fjellvettreglene). Plan your excursion according to the weather forecast, your skills and experience.
  • Join a guided excursion or consider hiring an experienced guide, especially when you don’t have sufficient experience or knowledge to guarantee a safe trip.
