Accommodation in the town centre

Thon Hotel Brønnøysund was renovated in 2019. A new wing was built, and all the rooms in another wing were refurbished. The new restaurant and reception area were completed this year. The rooms feature elegant Scandinavian design and pleasant colours.

Guests may choose between family rooms, spacious double rooms, and suites, all with comfortable beds and excellent WiFi. From the third floor up in the east wing, rooms offer great views, either of the town of Brønnøysund or of the mountains to the east or north. If you take the time to climb the stairs, you will be rewarded with views in every compass direction.

The restaurants

The new restaurant, located on the first floor, opened in May of this year. It also has outdoor tables on a sheltered south-facing terrace. Whether seated indoors or outdoors, this is the place to enjoy the renowned Thon breakfast, and to dine on lunch or dinner dishes based on choice local ingredients.

Thon Hotel Brønnøysund is situated on the main road that leads into the town centre. The closest neighbour is the Brønnøysund Register Centre, a national agency that manages Norway’s key public registers and systems for digital information exchange. The hotel is conveniently situated near the express boat quay, the Hurtigruten coastal steamer quay, and the central bus terminal, are all within 200 metres. The local airport is just 2 km away. A major shopping centre is less than half a kilometre away.

Explore the area

Brønnøysund is a varied town with much to offer. Torghatten, the legendary mountain with a hole in it and the area’s most striking landmark, is only a 20-minute drive from the hotel. En route it is well worth your while to visit the Norwegian Aquaculture Centre at Toft. Exhibitions at this seaside centre document the history of Norway’s pioneering aquaculture industry, as well as the local coastal culture.

The hotel is the perfect base for day trips to the Vega UNESCO World Heritage Site. Express boats to the Vega archipelago leave from the quay just 200 m from the hotel. Consider bringing a bike so as to better explore these scenic islands.

There are plenty of additional opportunities for cycling, kayaking and hiking; there are excellent trails also near town. Not to be missed is a walk along the harbour promenade to Brønnøysund’s new park.
