Nestled between the fjords in beautiful Bindal, the Vassås peninsula offers a landscape where nature and cultural heritage meet along a unique walking route. People have gathered here for centuries, and traces from both pre-christian and christian times lie close to the path.

The trail leads through 11 historical stops – from burial mounds and boat-shaped graves to a traditional farmstead and the viewpoint of St. Hanshaugen.

Bindal is located along County Road 17, at the southern end of Helgeland.

The easiest way to get to and around Bindal is by car, but you can also reach Terråk by bus from Grong or Brønnøysund.

  • Strive to leave no trace of your visit. Bring back all your rubbish, including used toilet paper, and discard it in the nearest rubbish bin.

Avoid loud and disturbing engine noise. Be aware that some islands and nature reserves are important nesting sites, and that going ashore is prohibited during the nesting season.
  • Follow the Norwegian Mountain Code (Fjellvettreglene). Plan your excursion according to the weather forecast, your skills and experience.
  • Join a guided excursion or consider hiring an experienced guide, especially when you don’t have sufficient experience or knowledge to guarantee a safe trip.
