In 1885, Ellen Haugan acquired a reputation for good food and excellent service. Today the family-run hotel that carries her name is renowned for a menu that combines the very best ingredients of Northern Norway with culinary impulses from throughout the world.

Ellen Haugan laid the foundation for a family-run hotel and restaurant that for five generations has offered local Helgelanders and travellers French wines and gourmet dining.

Today, 130 years and five generations later, a new Ellen is in charge of Fru Haugans Hotel, proudly honouring her family heritage. The restaurant has been refurbished, but guests may sense its history and tradition as they savour the dishes served – all based on the very best ingredients of Northern Norway, and recipes inspired by international cuisines.

After dinner, you can relax with a drink at Fruen Bar. You might also visit the adjacent Hotel Museum. Or wander through the beautiful hotel gardens, enjoy refreshments on the terrace down by the salmon river Vefsna. Lift your eyes to the mountain that towers over the town of Mosjøen. On the river is a dock for guest boats.

Fru Haugan’s hotel care about the environment and is certified as an Eco-Lighthouse.
