This guided walk from Engen Brygge gives insight into the natural and cultural history around Engenbreen. The route follows varied, rocky terrain with a steady ascent and offers clear views of the glacier, without stepping onto the ice.

The tour explores the history of Engenbreen, a part of the Svartisen Glacier. It starts at Engen Brygge and continues towards the glacier front through rocky terrain. Along the way, the guide explains how people have lived and worked in the area since the 1700s, and how the glacier’s movement and climate changes have shaped the landscape.

The guide shares knowledge about the glacier’s ecology and local cultural history, including stories about farming, daily life, and how people in Holandsfjorden have adapted to the forces of nature. The hike stays off the ice but provides clear views of the glacier and a clear impression of how it has shaped the landscape.
