Kvitneset Camping in Leirfjord municipality offers accommodation in scenic surroundings by a secluded fjord. Guests enjoy a beautiful view of the fjord and the Seven Sisters mountains.

At Kvitneset Camping, you can stay right by the sea, beside a quiet and secluded fjord, away from the busy stops near Sandnessjøen, the Coastal Route (Kystriksveien) and the E6. From the veranda, you can enjoy the evening sun setting behind the lesser-known side of the iconic Seven Sisters mountain range, with the fjord and the island of Sundøya stretching out in front of you.

With Kvitneset as your base, Sandnessjøen is only about a 30-minute drive away. From Sandnessjøen, ferries and express boats connect you to well-known islands such as Herøy, Dønna, Træna, Myken, Lovund and many more.

Barbecue cabin, boat rental and Sámi cultural trail

If you want to go for a walk without climbing steep mountains, the Sámi cultural trail is a great option. Another nearby attraction is Øvre Forsland Power Station, often described as Norway’s most beautiful hydropower plant, located about an 18-minute drive away. A barbecue cabin on the site is available for all guests—feel free to use it and enjoy a meal together while taking in the views.

If you have the required boating licence and want to try your luck fishing, you can rent a boat with fishing equipment. A dedicated fish-cleaning station is available for your catch. If you do not have the necessary certification to operate a boat yourself, ask whether Kvitneset can arrange a local skipper to take you out for fishing or a scenic fjord cruise.

Welcome to Sandnessjøen

The town of Sandnessjøen is situated roughly at the geographic centre of the magnificent Helgeland coast. It sits midway between mighty mountains and beautiful islands. Here you are near the Seven Sisters mountain range, the kayaking paradise of Herøy, the recreated Viking chieftain seat Sandnes, the museum that celebrates the 17th-century poet-priest Petter Dass, and the island of Dønna which is wonderful to explore on two wheels.
