With delicious food, fine wine, beautiful views, and a casually elegant atmosphere, Sjyen is a great choice for a memorable meal, perfect for any day or a special celebration. Here, you’ll find fresh, modern dishes that showcase the best of the sea – or “sjyen,” as the locals say.

Located in the heart of Mo i Rana, Sjyen is an à la carte restaurant serving high-quality dishes crafted from the best local and international ingredients. The atmosphere here is informal with a touch of elegance.

The kitchen draws its inspiration from the sea, using carefully selected ingredients from local fishermen and producers in Northern Norway. Expect world-class seafood and flavorful meat dishes sourced from nearby farms. The setting is a blend of relaxed elegance and modern style, ideal for a casual dinner or celebrating a special occasion.

Each dish is expertly crafted with an international twist on familiar flavors. Whether you’re visiting Sjyen for a quiet evening with family, a friendly dinner with friends, or a gathering with colleagues, there’s something to suit every occasion. Younger guests can enjoy a kid’s menu or smaller portions from the main menu. And after your meal, treat yourself to a tempting dessert and a cup of quality coffee.

Sjyen also boasts a unique wine showroom, where you can explore a selection of the restaurant’s favorite wines from vineyards across Europe. The wine list is one of the finest in the region.

Perfectly located

Sjyen enjoys a beautiful location on the edge of Mo i Rana’s center, right by the sea (“sjyen,” as we say locally), in the same building as the Nordland Science Center and the Rana Museum. The small boat harbor and the historic district of Moholmen are nearby. It’s equally delightful to enjoy the evening sun on the outdoor terrace in summer or sit inside by the warmth, looking out over winter’s soft light and breathtaking sunsets over the fjord.

Reservations recommended

While reservations aren’t required, it’s a good idea to book a table to ensure you get a spot.

Sjyen is open year-round, with outdoor seating available during the summer season. For holidays, it’s recommended to reserve a table well in advance.

Sjyen is located in the Moment building, along with the Nordland Science Center and Rana Museum, just outside Mo i Rana’s center. There is convenient parking right outside, and it’s also a pleasant walk from the pedestrian street in the town center.
