Enjoy a memorable holiday at Engen Gård, surrounded by beautiful scenery and overlooking the Engenbreen glacier in Meløy. This location is perfect for couples, families, or groups of friends looking to spend quality time together.

Nestled near the glacier arm Engenbreen (also known as Engabreen), Engen Gård offers a peaceful and idyllic setting with views of the fjord and glacier, surrounded by spectacular landscapes. Engenbreen is a part of the iconic Svartisen, Norway’s second-largest glacier, and a breathtaking sight, with its deep blue ice stretching down toward the water below. Whether you’re seeking unique outdoor adventures near Svartisen or simply looking to relax and enjoy the serene view, Engen Gård caters to both.

Stay in the house or the forge

The restored Main House combines modern comforts with traditional charm. It accommodates up to 11 guests with five double rooms and one single room. Inside, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, two cozy living rooms, two bathrooms with showers and toilets, and laundry facilities for convenience. Outside, spacious terraces and dining areas let you enjoy the sunshine during breakfast, dinner, or evening meals. The large garden, with its long table and gas grill, is perfect for outdoor gatherings and socializing.

The forge, or «Smia» in Norwegian, is a restored workshop from the 1940s, and provides a rustic yet comfortable experience. Its unique character includes six beds in a large loft space, one bathroom, and a compact but fully equipped kitchen. The living area features a dining table and seating, with flexibility to rearrange the space for various activities as needed.

Activities and dining

The area around Engenbreen offers plenty of activities. A guided glacier hike is a must-try experience. Walking roped up with an ice axe and crampons on the deep blue ice is unforgettable, and few places in the world offer such easy access to a glacier. RIB boat and kayaking tours are also available for exploring the fjord and nearby islands.

Engen Gård provides hiking maps for exploring the surrounding mountains. Choose from short and easy routes to the glacier, Svartisvannet, or Fonndalen, or embark on the more demanding and spectacular hike to Helgelandsbukken and Tåkeheimen.

A short walk or bike ride from the farm takes you to Brestua, a summer café, restaurant, and kiosk near the glacier. Bikes are available for rent at the ferry dock.

Engen Gård is open for stays from May to October.

The House is rented in its entirety for a minimum of four days.

The forge (Smia) can be rented for one night, though a two-night stay is recommended to make the most of your visit.
