The first stage of the tour takes you from Terråk Guesthouse in Bindal, via Tosenveien near Brønnøysund, up to Majavatn, and further to Hattfjelldal Hotel in Hattfjelldal. You’ll spend over 5 hours in the saddle on this day, so it might be wise to make a slight detour to Brønnøysund for a bite to eat and perhaps purchase what you need for another break along the way. A tip is to take a short side trip from the Wilderness Route to the parking lot in Simskardet, one of the entrances to Børgefjell National Park. This will involve riding a few hundred meters on a gravel road, but if your bike is up for it, it’s a great place to stop and stretch your legs. Afterward, continue your ride to Hattfjelldal Hotel, which can serve as your base for a few days as you explore the surrounding area.

Day 2: Hattfjelldal to Korgfjellet

The next stage of the tour continues along the Wilderness Route from Hattfjelldal, alongside the large mountain lake Røssvatnet, close to the highest mountains in Northern Norway, the Okstindan range. At the end of the Wilderness Route, you’ll reach the village of Korgen, and from there, you’ll take the old road up to Korgfjellet, where Korgfjellet Mountain Lodge is today’s destination. This stage is short, taking barely two hours. It will give you plenty of time to explore the beautiful hiking terrain at Korgfjellet. However, if your bike craves more asphalt under its wheels, we have two detours to recommend: You can take a trip to the charming fjord village of Hemnesberget or head up Leirskardalen towards the Okstindan mountain massif.

At the end of Leirskardalen, the road turns into a steep gravel road that leads to the parking lot, which is the starting point for the hike to Rabothytta. If you’re on an adventure or off-road bike, this can be a very fun detour, and the view from the top of the road is stunning. But if you prefer to stay on asphalt, the detour to Hemnesberget is more enjoyable, with curves gracefully hugging the fjord.

Day 3: Korgfjellet to Offersøya

The final stage of the tour takes you down the southern side of Korgfjellet. Today’s destination is Offersøy Camping, located slightly south of the coastal town of Sandnessjøen, but with a detour through the fjord village of Elsfjord. This allows you to spend more time in the saddle on what would otherwise be a short stage and avoids much of the straight and wide motorway-like road you would encounter if you took the direct route. The road through Lerifjord and across the Helgeland Bridge is very scenic. After Sandnessjøen, we recommend taking one of the side roads that pass close to the mountain range known as De Syv Søstre (The Seven Sisters).
