Kvarøy is a small island located between Lurøy and Hestmona, on the northern part of the Helgeland coast. The island has beautiful beaches, a local store, good dining options, a fantastic playground with a cool pump track. It is also a lovely starting point for sea excursions by boat or kayak, or trips to the other islands in Lurøy and Rødøy.

In addition to white beaches, majestic mountains, and a spectacular archipelago, other attractions that may be worth a visit include renowned restaurants, one of Nordland's largest churches, and Norway's only teddy bear museum.

Rødøyløva is one of Helgeland’s most popular and scenic hikes, as well as Northern Norway’s first National Tourist Trail. The mountain isn’t very high, and the hike isn’t long, but the view from the top is still stunning, stretching from the Lofoten Wall in the north to Vega in the south.

Åkvikfjellet is a beautiful and easily accessible mountain for hiking, located on the border between Dønna and Herøy.

When you step off the boat at Myken, you feel your pulse calming down. Further out to sea, it's hardly possible to reach Helgeland. But 32 kilometers from the mainland, north of the Arctic Circle, there is a small community on a tiny island, where a handful of enthusiasts keep the lights on in the houses and the doors open.
