Hike description

Four peaks in one hike — with the bonus of stunning views over Velfjorden and its many arms to the north, as well as the archipelago with Torghatten and Vega to the south and west. You don’t need to climb the highest mountains to get amazing views in this otherwise flat western landscape.

Follow Fv17 and turn onto Fv76 at Skillebotn. If you’re coming from Brønnøysund, you’ll find a clearly marked parking area on the left-hand side after about 2 km, near the ski cabin. From here, you can choose between hiking one or all four gentle peaks. The lower sections of the trail have boardwalks across wet and marshy ground, and the path is well marked.

If you go for all four summits — Salbuhatten (334 m), Kjølsfjellet (355 m), Guromannen (312 m), and Hjortheia (195 m) — you’ll enjoy a varied and rewarding hike with views over the entire area.

If you prefer just one peak, choose between Salbuhatten, which faces the fjord, or Guromannen to the south. All routes are clearly signposted from the parking lot.
