Helgeland has thousands of mountains. Some of the more distinctive peaks have served as navigation landmarks for generations of seafarers, while others have inspired legends as to how they came to be. Here is our suggested itinerary for adventurous summit hikes to four of them: Torghatten, Dønnamannen, Rødøyløva and the Seven Sisters (De syv søstre). None of the islands or islets are particularly high, so wherever you go, you have a panoramic view of the midnight sun in the summer or the northern lights in the fall and winter.

Lurøyfjellet offers one of the most beautiful scenic hikes on the Helgeland Coast, with views of nearly all the iconic fairytale mountains and the amazing islands in Lurøy.

At Myken Apartments, you have several accommodation choices on this quaint island far out on the Helgeland Coast. In the apartments at Myken Brygge, you'll stay right by the express boat quay, enjoying a splendid view of the strait and Myken's entryway. Alternatively, you can choose one of the houses located a bit more secluded, further inland on the island.

Sculpture Landscape Nordland is an international art project with 36 outdoor installations spread across 36 of Nordland’s 44 municipalities. Created by artists from around the world, these permanent works are placed in landscapes where nature and art meet. On Helgeland, you can experience them in 12 different municipalities.

If you drive over Saltfjellet in the north of Helgeland, you cross the Arctic Circle. You can also cross this magic boundary as you travel the Helgeland coast by express boat of ferry.
