Glacier hiking on Svartisen is possible when the glacier tongue is free of snow, usually from summer until the snow settles in late autumn.
Explore Svartisen offers guided tours in the area year-round by appointment.
To get to Svartisen in Meløy, you have to take the shuttleboat from Holandsvika over to the Engen pier on the otherside of Holandsfjorden. It’s also possible to go to the Engen pier using your own boat. The meeting point for the guided tour is at the pier in Holandsvika, or at Engen brygge by arrangement.

At the Dønna exhibition, you can learn more about the author’s life and work and see the complete collection of Ole Edvart Rølvaag’s first editions.
