September 12th and 13th
ArktiskMat is an annual international food symposium held in the charming town of Mosjøen.

Over two days in September, attendees enjoy lectures, workshops, demonstrations, and delicious meals at Bakgården Kultur and in the historic Sjøgata district of this cozy cultural hub. Since 2012, ArktiskMat has brought people together to share knowledge about food and culture. The symposium serves as an inspiring meeting place for both young and seasoned chefs, as well as food enthusiasts exploring the dynamic culinary landscape of the Arctic region.
ArktiskMat 2025 will take place on September 12–13.

Træna Museum documents the this archipelago’s history going back to the Stone Age. Some of the archaeological discoveries displayed date back at least 9000 years. For this reason, Træna can rightfully call itself “the oldest fishing community in Norway”.

When you travel the scenic Helgeland coast, you are at the heart of one of Norway’s most important industries: aquaculture. And the Norwegian Aquaculture Centre is right on the water at Toftsundet, in the middle of the country’s salmon farming industry. Here you can observe every phase of the salmon’s life up close. A gangway takes you to the centre’s salmon pens. Nearby are the rorbu, the traditional fishermen’s cabins, as well as a building that houses a historic exhibition and the centre’s restaurant.
