A weekend of snowmobiling in Helgeland
Treat yourself to a spectacular, fast-paced winter adventure in the magnificent wilderness near Mosjøen. Fru Haugans Hotel offers these weekend adventures in close collaboration with GoExtreme, whose guides know this beautiful landscape like the back of their hand. Enjoy a hearty breakfast at Northern Norway’s oldest hotel before heading for the scenic mountains of Hattfjelldal. And at days end, we’ll have a delicious three-course dinner waiting for you in Restaurant Ellen.
Fru Haugans Hotel and the town of Mosjøen are ideally situated for exploring the mountains and enjoying a wide range of outdoor adventures. The surrounding area has well over 500 km of snowmobile trails through varied terrain, and GoExtreme’s experienced guides will take you to magnificent areas that few travellers get to see. If weather permits, we’ll head for mountain tops that offer stunning views far into the Børgefjell National Park.

Friday
Check-in at Fru Haugans Hotel. Acquaint yourself with the hotel and explore the friendly town of Mosjøen.
Saturday
After a hearty breakfast, you will be picked up and transported to the snowmobile trails. The guides will equip you with warm outer garments that are especially suited for snowmobiling, including winter boots, gloves, a balaclava and a helmet.
Your guides, who have an uncompromising focus on your safety, will give you good instruction, to beginners as well as more experienced snowmobilers. Then we’ll speed off into the snow-covered mountains!
In the course of our adventure, we’ll stop for lunch at Sæterstad Farm, which takes pride in serving dishes prepared with local ingredients. After many more satisfying hours exploring the snowmobile trails, we can celebrate with a lovely three-course dinner at the hotel’s Restaurant Ellen.
If you wish, you can expand your adventure itinerary with beer or wine tasting, before or after dinner – an après snowmobile event in one of the hotel’s bars.

- Duration: approx. 8 hours, including transport, safety instruction and equipping, and the hot lunch at Sæterstad Farm

- The tour is suitable for almost everyone who is in reasonably good health. However, we recommend that pregnant women not choose this excursion.

Avoid loud and disturbing engine noise. Be aware that some islands and nature reserves are important nesting sites, and that going ashore is prohibited during the nesting season.
- Follow the Norwegian Mountain Code (Fjellvettreglene). Plan your excursion according to the weather forecast, your skills and experience.
- Join a guided excursion or consider hiring an experienced guide, especially when you don’t have sufficient experience or knowledge to guarantee a safe trip.

Norwegian Aquaculture Centre – Rorbu cabins by the sea
When you travel the scenic Helgeland coast, you are at the heart of one of Norway’s most important industries: aquaculture. And the Norwegian Aquaculture Centre is right on the water at Toftsundet, in the middle of the country’s salmon farming industry. Here you can observe every phase of the salmon’s life up close. A gangway takes you to the centre’s salmon pens. Nearby are the rorbu, the traditional fishermen’s cabins, as well as a building that houses a historic exhibition and the centre’s restaurant.
