The 35-40 minute ferry ride takes you to Flostad on the island of Herøy. Follow road no. 828 northwards towards Dønna and ride across all the bridges that connect the islands in Herøy together. Cycling in Herøy provides many opportunities for detours from the main road to experience small local communities at close range.
After approx. 11 km you will arrive at the Åkviksund Bridge which connects Herøy and Dønna. Cycle over the bridge and continue on road no. 828 approx. 18 km to Bjørn. On this leg you will pass the starting point of the hike to the summit of the mountain Dønnamannen and, if you choose, you can park your bike and go on a spectacular mountain hike. When you reach Bjørn you take the ferry back to Sandnessjøen.
From Bjørn you also have the option of extending your cycling trip by riding further north on the island. Attractions here include climbing the mountain Dønnesfjellet and enjoying the unbelievable view of the archipelago from the summit.
