The dream catch

Vefsna is the main river that runs through Hattfjelldal, Grane and Vefsn. Originating in the Børgefjell National Park and other mountains bordering Sweden, the river runs 160 km northwestward before emptying its waters into the Vefsnfjord near Mosjøen.

"Gammelsagmaro", the old sawmill that is now part of Grane village museum, is situated at Trofors on Rv73, just 500 metres east of highway E6. Here, there is a great fishing spot with handicap access and a nice path from the parking lot down to the river bank. There are picnic tables and benches, toilets, and an information board about fishing in the eastern branch of the Vefsna river.

Plenty of brown trout swim this branch of the river, all the way up to Hattfjelldal. However, access to the wilder stretches of the river, which runs through a canyon, is challenging.

PS: Fishing licenses may be purchased from:
Trofors Elveeierlag

Drive highway E6 to Trofors in Grane. Take the Rv73 turnoff towards Hattfjelldal and follow the road for approx. 300 metres. Your destination is on the right.
